$19 Chocolate Bundt Cake

Thursday we went to the Youth Fundraiser for our church. People bring baked goods and other materials from home and then we have a live and silent auction. I made a chocolate bundt cake. Which went for $19 and was purchased by my husband. Bought the cake, made the cake, brought the cake and then paid for the cake. Awesome ;). We paid for it, but then Landon felt bad for out bidding the Hamners so we gave it to them. They repaid us by dropping off some yummy cookies this afternoon. We also got a $20 gift card from a Mexican restaurant for $16. YES! The night ended driving home in ice storm. Crazy. Rain hits the windshield and it turns to ice. Thank you Haslams for returning me home safely.

Friday I hurried (so fast that I was sweating) to get the entire house cleaned up by 7:00 so Landon and I could cuddle on the couch and watch a movie. Added bonus, Ashley Baker brought us creme brule. It was payback for something silly like being her scribe for when she opened her baby shower gifts. Dear ashley, i'll be your scribe forever if you just bring me creme brule every once in a while. A good good night. Landons dad flew into town Saturday afternoon. Landon took him and showed him around campus and then he took us to dinner. Thanks for coming Papa Woolf! We love you!

Jax
Can say; ball, mama, no, stop, uh-oh, baba=bottle, baaa=blankee, maaaa=dada. He likes to get dressed now and he picks out his own clothes, drags them to the stairs and sits on the steps so I can dress him. He doesn't like our chicken noodle soup. Sad. But he loved the 2nd bundt cake I made this weekend. Sometimes he just wants his shoes on. No clothes but shoes. This week we went to the library for the first time (thanks for the ride burrows) and we got all bundled up and played outside in the ice. Jax loved to slip around.

Becs
I started running this week thanks to an extra push from Danielle and Tiffany. I ran every day but Friday. And it was AWSOME! I'm trying to wake up at 6:15 so I can be done and showered by the time jax wakes up. It doesn't always happen (because he wakes up at 6:30 sometimes) but the days that I ran... I was so much more productive and had so much more energy. I hope I can keep it up. I really just want to be done with exercising, showering and reading my scriptures right in the morning so that I can spending the rest of my day serving the Lord. I love the quote from Elder Eyrings daughter in this talk, “Heavenly Father, I will give you all of my time; please show me how to fill it.” I don't say this to boast. Because frankly, I don't do this very often. But I want to get better at it. Landon's mission president and wife wake up every morning at 5:30 because its the only time they can get a good scripture study in. Kristin Tobler talked a little bit about this at book club. We can't serve the Lord unless we are spiritually/physically/emotionally/mentally prepared to do so. I want to be like that. Anyway, thats a tangent. Sorry. Basically this week was good.

Lando
Landon has another round of 4 tests coming up. I think they actually start next Monday. He won his intramural game. *woot* *woot*. He was also called as Elders Quorum President in our ward. Funny story about that:
I took Lando's suits to the dry cleaner. A couple days later we got and email asking if we colud meet with the stake president that Sunday evening. Saturday night at like 11:00pm we realized that his suits were still at the dry cleaners. He didn't have anything to wear to meet with the Stake President. So... we borrowed a suit from the Toblers. No big deal. EXCEPT for the fact that they have a cat and Lando is pretty allergic to cats. So on the way up to the meeting, landons neck began to get hives. The whole meeting he kept itching his neck. Luckily he got away without anyone noticing. To add to the story, we even forgot to get the suits for the next Sunday. And to add to that... they didin't get us one of his suit coats. So I have to go back. BLAH! I'm the best wife right ;)? Never taking suits to dry cleaners again. ;). Luckily for the Sunday that he was actually called I remembered to get his suits. Anyway he is excited, a little nervous, and anxious to get working.

Life is good! Sorry so long!

Get Thee Hence [Sickness]

This week, I read the story from Moses where Moses says, "Get thee hence, Satan; deceive me not" (I actually read this talk). Is it okay that I used a substitution for Satan this week? Blasted sickness. It was birthday week and valentines and we just coughed our way through it. Boo. Twice.
The only thing we did on Lando's Bday was enjoy a scrumptious dinner. Really dinners this week rocked! Nope. Didn't have a cake, didn't sing happy birthday, forgot to wish him happy birthday til 1:00pm. Didn't get him a single thing. Worst birthday ever. Ha.
Landon was REALLY sick on valentines day. He woke up and the first thing he said was, "I just really want some chicken noodle soup." Thank you Suzanne Adamson from my moms ward for making us chicken noodle soup when my parents moved. If you hadn't we never would have gotten the recipe. That soup MADE our valentines day. That and an orange julius and this Audrey Hepburn movie. No flowers, no presents, no notes, just two coughing sickees drink, slurping and watching. At least we were together :).
Friday Landon got better, but Jax and I got a little worse. At least in the coughing department. And tonight my voice is gone. I think landon's response when I got home from a primary training was, "Your voice sounds funny...." I think my response was... "Yeah... well... your face looks funny." (In a 7 year old comeback voice) Haha. The missionaries may or may not have been sitting on the couch listening to this.  Haha, all in good fun!!

Lando
I already mentioned that he was sick. On his birthday(Monday) he woke up at 2:00am and studied for his test that he took at 9:00am. Then came home around 12:00 and studied until midnight. On wednesday at 9:00am he finished his 4th test only to find out there was a quiz at 10:00am. No break??? Guess not!
No this was a pretty intense week. Its not always that crazy promise! Um... no basketball this week. He did finish No Excuses. I've started listening to it now. Good week to be done with thats for sure. WHOA but I did forget to mention that I finally made him breakfast in bed on Friday. Biscuits and Gravy with a fruit & yogurt parfait (Thanks for the homemade granola Hirschi Family). Yum. And friday night we gathered our birthday freebies and went to dinner. I was obsessed with my salad!

Becs
I ripped my favorite jeans. The only pants I love to wear! My very thought out/pretty expensive/2012 birthday jeans :(. I'm embarrassed to say I teared up. Twice. I guess not too embarrassed. Bummed.
BUT...
Had a few play dates at our house this week. The Hays even graced us with their presence on Vday. We love it! Jax LOVES being with other kids. Since he has no siblings, my solution is play dates! We had fun at the Westovers too. Don't know how Brittany does it. Three kids in less than three years. She is amazing. Loved going to Relief Society activity night! Diane visited us many times with week. Brought a yummy treat for jax on Vday and she brought Chinese on Friday that her and I shared while jax was napping.
I LOVE where we are going to medical school.
I often feel like we were guided to Indiana more for me than for Landon. I wouldn't have known it at the time (since I wanted to go to Texas) but seriously, I LOVE IT HERE!!! Now all I need is our families and Jenelle to move our here and we're set!
Oh ONE MORE thing. We were able to get the news to do a clip on The Everything Sale for the Farar Family. It is going to air tomorrow on Fox59 around 5:45, 820, and 950 in the morning.

JAX
Typical Jaxson Actions--I want to remember
  • When he asks for food, and I say "not right now", he folds his arms and bows his head. It makes me laugh. To him, prayer=food in front of my face.
  • No matter what the food is, cottage cheese, soup, bread, chocolate, fruit, etc... Jax blows on it (thinking it is hot) when we put it in front of him.
  • He is starting to mimic us (notice picture of boys on their tummys). If lando shoots the ball on his stomach, then Jax gets right up next to him and tries to shoot the ball that way too. Or when we had soup, I took bread and dipped it in his bowl and said, "dip dip dip dip dip," he then grabbed bread, dipped it in his bowl and said, "dipadipadipadipadipa"
  • Landon drinks a slim fast every morning. Not to slim up, but because its quick. So every morning when we pull the blender out and poor the milk in it, jax goes the the pantry shelves and grabs the slim fast and brings it to us
  • When i'm getting ready, he grabs the brush, tugs on my jeans, I bend down and he combs my hair for a little while
  • When the door opens he wants to go out side. He grabs his shoes and his green ball then points to the coat closet.
  • When I change his diaper and i'm all finished, he immediately stands up and points to the diaper and goes, "uuuuck uuuuck." (The sound you make when you are trying to scratch your throat)
He's been sick this week. Coughing all through the night. But honestly, he is a trooper. And though he has been a little more fussy, he handles being sick better than I do.
