Kirtland Ohio

What a great week we had! The first part of the week was spent getting prepared for Kirtland.WE played, learned how to play without a t.v., made big messes, had the missionaries over and went to costco.

Then I went to Kirtland with the young women in our ward. Jax played with the Hobsons during the day, and daddy at night and on Saturday. I'm not sure if Jax wanted me home or not:).

Kirtland was amazing!! We were able to go to
  • The Johnson Farm. Where the Prophet Joseph Smith was Tarred and Feathered, where he translated the bible.
  • The Kirtland Temple. We learned all the work the pioneers put into building the temple.
  • The Morley Farm.
  • The Newel K. Whitney Store, where Joseph Smith and his family stayed for about 2 years.
  • The School of Prophets, which is a small room inside the Whitney Store. Were the early prophets received revelation from God about the LDS church.
All those places were really amazing. And another really incredible thing is that Heavenly Father & Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and a few other men in all 4 places. It was special.

We also stayed in a mansion. And the young women went balistic over that. We went to the lake and to a lighthouse. We made some yummy food and went to eat at Olive Garden. It was a HUGE success and I felt the spirit. I know the church is true and i'm grateful for what the pioneers in the early days (1830) did so that I could ahve the gospel today.

The church membership has gone from 12 people in 1832 to ~15 million people today. The church is true!

Jax is Two!

OUR WEEK
My mom was in town until Tuesday. It was fun to have her all to myself for two days. That never happens. The rest of the week I spent trying to get back to normal life. Which always takes a couple of days. I also made a trip to the temple with some lovely ladies, had book club, had young womens, and went to watch one of my YW's band half time show. We also moved the T.V. out of the family room. I just have no self control and after having cartoons on for at least 8 hours Thursday I decided it was time for a change. Its been AWESOME!!! For the first time in a while Jax woke up this morning and didn’t say, “Watch?” Oh life as a mom haha. I’m doing the best I can okay?  :) We watched the BYU game at the Hess's! GO cougs!! Landon only studied til 8:30 Friday and 3:00 Saturday. It was heavenly! Today he was home from church by 5:15. And we hung out as a family from 5:15-7:30. And I thought to myself, "WOW we've spent a lot of time with Lando tonight." Sad. Oh school.

JAXSON!!
Jax turned two this week! I can’t believe that. I went into his room at 1:08am to hold him because that was the time that he was born. I feel so blessed to have him. He is so happy about life. So excited. He is also a very sensitive little kid and is most sensitive when he knows we are upset at him. He is 100% potty trained. Hasn’t worn a diaper in 6 weeks. BEST 6 weeks ever. He talks so much and makes us laugh all of the time. He loves to be outside and run. He doesn’t like to be held or be in strollers he likes to run. And he does. I rarely if ever carry him anywhere. He is so smart. He gets things really quick and I can already tell he will have really good people skills. Some of his closest friends out here are two years older than him. He likes to eat all of the time. But I try to limit him most of the time. He looks more like landon than me, so says everyone… but I can’t see it… haha he is WAY too cute. He is pretty polite. He says please and thank you for everything. Over and over and over again. So much that sometimes I just want to bop him on the head. His word for grandma, grandpa and sunglasses is “BADA.” Yep. “BADA” He can say, “No thank you please mommy” but he can’t say grandma. He loves books, bubbles, balloons, and jumping. He hates being put in his car seat. He wants to ride the way the big people ride. He also never wants to ride in a grocery cart anymore. He wants to run by the cart instead. He waves to everyone he sees. He loves cars, trucks, and buses, and “woo woos” (fire trucks). He gets scared pretty easily, mostly when he is watching a show. He knows when something is mean or dark and he runs to me and holds onto my neck until the moment is over. He has become way more cuddly. He is so aware of peoples feelings. He takes social queues pretty well. The other day I said to him, “Jaxson my heart hurts” and he said, “OH!” then ran into the play closet, got his medical kit, pulled out his stethoscope, put them in his ears, and checked my heart. Then after a minute he said,  “Mommy okay!. Okay?” and gave me a kiss. He jumps around when daddy comes home and asks where he is about a million times a day. “Where daddy go?” “He’s at school bud.” “*sigh* oh! Okay”. He loves his new jammies and only wants to wear those. He is doing great in nursery again! Oh and he is starting to legitimately make really good friends. And he talks about them all day long. And cries when we can’t seem them. He is learning how to say his prayers and he is still pretty sigh about it, but he can say amen with full force! He is amazing and he made us parents two years ago and for that we are forever grateful for him. Being a mom… yeah there is nothing, NOTHING that is better than it. I LOVE it. And it makes my heart and my head want to explode sometimes. And that is why it is SO great. Nothing is more important. Nothing.

Happy week :).
