This was seriously one of the best weeks of all time. This week is always one of my favorite every year. I just love Thanksgiving so so so much and it doesn't hurt that my birthday always falls on or right around this happy thankful day.
Landon:
Is basically done with his Sub-I rotation--one more day. He took his shelf-exam this week. Which is crazy because finishing this rotation, means that he only has one more test and a board examination. Its starting to feel real that we are almost done. The doctors that he worked with this month were so reasonable, and let him off early a lot (including my birthday and thanksgiving). It made a dreaded month, become delightful.
Jaxson:
"This is the best day of my whole life" was mentioned a number of times this week. He also said, "Thanksgiving is the best holiday ever" which made a mom proud :). He loved his turkey day play-date, pin the feather on the turkey, rocket turkeys, and reading The First Thanksgiving book over and over again. He loved going to our friends home and Thanksgiving and watching a movie in their theater and eating "the best food ever." I'm not 100% sure where he gets his love for life ;). He definitely gets his expressiveness from me.
Jax also got rid of 75% of his toys this week. I went through every toy and asked, "Does this toy make you really really happy?" He responded with a yes or no. Surprisingly, he said "no" way more than "yes". He had a box full of "no's" that we took to a women & childrens shelter. I was so proud of him. He was so happy. I'm so thankful for him and his example. Kids are amazing. We did this on Friday and I think we will make it a yearly tradition.
Ty:
Is eating lots of food: Sausage, bananas, oranges, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, sausage again, muffins. He is still getting a hang of it, but I think its working and he is getting chunkier. He is down to three naps a day and only wakes up for 1 feeding in a 12+ hour stretch. With determination and extreme effort he can scootch to something he really wants to get his hands on. But its obvious that he gets frustrated when he is tired and just wants us to give him the wasp spray :/. He is the happiest, most tenerder-hearted, sweetest, calmest baby. He's a delight and we love him.
Becca:
I had a party planning for and executing the turkey party. I was also able to go to the temple with my dear friend, Sherri! I love the temple so much. It was the best getting ready for Thanksgiving. The food was amazing. The next day we were able to get a Christmas tree and decorate. So so happy. And then my birthday. It was so special. Landon had to work that morning so the boys and I woke up and finished the Christmas preparations. He came home with flowers and cupcakes. I love that he knows me so well. Then I opened presents. Jax got me necklaces, Landon got me wasp spray and a bat (for protection....this gift shows how much he loves and adores me, even if i'm a little crazy sometimes). He also got me the coolest running jacket. Mama & Papa W. got me star ornaments with the different names of Christ on them. Im obsessed and already have them hanging up. My mom and dad gave me their nativity set. Which i've adored since I was a little girl. I cried when I opened it. Im not a sentimental person, but this gift will be cherished forever. I took a nap while Landon played with the boys. We watched the BYU football game. It was such a nice relaxing day. Landon took me out to dinner and then to Barnes and Noble to get a new journal. My 27th journal, on my 27th birthday. Picking out a journal is the best, and Im glad Landon got to be with me for this one. I got a good one. The one I finished yesterday was the one I wrote specifically for Ty. Its always hard to part with those journals. They mean so much to me. I hope it means a lot to them. We finished the night with the yummiest cheesecake and Psych. Magical night, magical day, magical weekend, magical week. Seriously I LOVE this week so much and I love thanksgiving so much because of family, friends and food but also because its the beginning of the Christmas Season.
We were able to spend a lot of calm, peaceful moments together as a family this week. It was magnificent. We talked a ton around the Christmas tree, or the thankful tree, or the turkey. We went to the Peanuts movie, Ty slept the whole time. It was perfect. We had dinner at a wonderful families home. It was perfect. Ty is currently playing with a football, Jax with Buzz & Woody next to Landon on the rocking chair while he is reading The Miracle of Forgiveness, Christmas music is on, and i'm blogging.
Its Christmas time. The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!!

My hope is that one day he will be as excited to read this journal I specifically wrote to him these last 11 months as he is excited to eat it right now. |
