KonMari Week 5

Lando:
Took his last medical school test of his life. What?? Awesome! He also took me on a date to the temple.

Becs:
I finished tidying my house. It's so empty but filled with the things I truly do love. I'm so excited moving forward to take my time and get what sparks joy.

Last Sunday night I went and listened to my dear young women speak and sing. Oh how amazed I am by them! I also was able to visit teach some amazing sisters this week. People are just so good and inspire me. Life is so hard for so many and their hope and optimism touches my heart.

Jax:
Was able to have play dates with Jens one day and Thomas another. Our dear friends also took us to the museum. Thanks maxwells, we love you.

Ty:
Is so perfect. We adore him more than words can express. He is loving climbing and he's the cutest crawler ever!

We played Sorry as a family 1,056 times, this week. Whoa. We also loved our Pizza Friday Talk night where we eat pizza and just ask random questions. It's been a in new tradition for us.

I love my family. I love the gospel. I love going to church and being uplifted by our ward family! Life is good and cold and simple but happy.

KonMari Week 4

Lando:
Finished clinic this week. Is getting ready to go to Florida to present a paper he helped publish. Is the most supportive husband!!! I realized last night that I get super excited about a lot of things that probably make his life more complicated, (cloth diapers, budgeting/financial education, writing my book, KonMari). But it never feels like I'm doing those things alone. He always jumps on board as if it was his own passion! Thanks babe.

Becs:
I think I asked myself "does this spark joy" one million times this week. The KonMari method does spark joy and I'm so grateful for the project of tidying my home when it literally feels like 0 degrees outside right now. But I'm also very ready to be done with the marathon. If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the book pictured below, it changed my life.

Jax:
Went to his friends star wars birthday party! He loved it. He asked himself "does this spark joy" quite a bit too. He really wanted star war Legos, so we told him he could work for it. He did 6 hours of tidying with me. He worked so hard and would often be the one to ask if we could keep working. He was able to buy a $10 Star Wars Lego edition.

He also had a preschool screening. His conceptual ability was completely off the chart--he is super smart for his age. His vocabulary is on the high end for his age. But his speech, was rated as "poor, can't understand". Which struck a small defensive cord in me. "I can understand him perfectly, that's not fair" I thought. But, they are probably right. And I'm glad we are working on this now so he can be ready for preschool in 8 months.

Ty:
Sleeps through the night. Crawls and can crawl up and over smal ledgers. Eats almost everything but broccoli. Has two bottom teeth. Apparently he wasn't sick last week, he was teething. Sometimes I feel I still know nothing about babies and parenting:). But seriously. He's talking gibberish like crazy. He's so incredibly sweet and good natured and pleasant. The only "spat" we ever have together are diaper changes. Oh Ty ty! Just lay on your back for one second please. thank you.

Probably one more week of KonMari! I'm excited. Also freezing cold, go away!

KonMari week 3

Lando
Took his second to last test in medical school this week. He can actually go play basketball with some guys with all his no studying, no interviewing, no early mornings time. Watching sports, playing games with Jax, and helping me konmari my home has been his week. Fourth year, second semester, we love you!!!!!!!!!

Becs
Reading, discarding, spark joy, konmari method are basically my thoughts this week. This is take 2 for me, but I'm doing it right this time around. And five days in I'm lovin it!!! Still so much work to be done. Read this book guys, it's changed everything around here.

Also I was sick this week and my dear friend Dawn brought our family dinner. She has twins younger than Ty. She inspires me :)!

Jax
Oh what a wonderful big brother. He got and A+ at the dentist. The older and older he gets, the more and more of our friend he becomes! He's been asking a lot lately "does this spark joy". Oh how our children take after us, and oh how scary that can be. :)

Ty:
Sweetest lil bro who is Eating like a champ. Crawling like a baller. Sleeping like a machine. (3 naps, one 12 hour straight night/day.) He loves playing with swinging doors, his comfort is to suck on his blanket,
So long old friend, you've been good to me. #hotchocolatemaker

Hello new friend, welcome to the family:)!
All the books I've read that I discarded.

1.10.2016

Hello 2016

Holy cow! This week was the fastest week ever.

Welcome 2016 :). Lets get back to normal around here.

Landon:
Finished his last two interviews this week!!!! Yay!!! He went to 15 interviews, plus two that didn't require him to be there, plus two he cancelled. We were both so excited and relieved when he walked in the house after his last one. Excited he's done, relieved he's safe. Landon's on Radiology right now. He has two tests this month, but the rotation itself is pretty chill. Lots of half days. He's been reading lots of books and listening to everything BYU. The next four months are going to be awesome!

Becca:
I spent the week working on the blog layout, reading, and twiddling my thumbs some times for Landon to be done. My dear friend Amanda and I went to lunch and it was so fun to have some girl time!!

Every year I only pick one New Years resolution to work on:

2009: Go on a Mission-->that didn't happen :)
2010: Learn to cook
2011: Find joy in the journey
2012: Exercise Daily
2013: Serve one person each day
2014: Clean as I go while cooking
2015: Become less wasteful
2016: Early to bed, early rise (10:00pm-6am)

Let's review 2015s goal.
I think I did so many good things here, but honestly, I could have done WAY better. I give myself a C+.

Things I did do:
I went through my house and got rid of things we don't use (44+ bags worth.) Normally I would have just thrown all those bags away, but I gave most of it to friends or family. One of Landon's mission suit cases is currently in another mission with another missionary. I love that.

I learned how to grocery shop from the amazing ami(who also taught me so many other things this week). This has helped me not waste as much food. And not spend as much money. Which I love.

We have never really used many paper products, but I've continued to use less and less in all aspects of my life. Period, (wink wink).

BUT, I didn't even touch recycling. And thats my biggest problem. So I don't feel as good about this year as I have in the past. I'll keep working on it.

2016s goal:
Is to be in bed by 10 and awake by 6. It's been hard to change what my body is use too. And I haven't done it every day. But I'm so excited about this goal and think it could change so much of my life:). It's all about the process. I don't expect to be perfect at it in the beginning but my hope is each year I master something new. I've done really well up until last years goal.

Jax:
Is obsessed with start wars and sings Darth Vader's song all day long every day. He loves to carry Ty everywhere. He loves his marbleous.

Ty:
Is crawling fully. He has had a hard week because he's been a little sick. But I started giving him three naps again and that worked wonders. He slept from six to six the other night. Yay! He's also eating like crazy. This morning he had an entire banana, one strawberry, 6 blueberries, three ham cubes, one scramble egg, half of a muffin. And none of it fell in the floor. How is he so small?

Landon and I were able to go on a fun date on Friday and we were able to have delicious cafe rio with the Naylors and Daetwylers on Saturday.

Landon almost didn't go to his last interview in Galveston Texas. We are confident Landon is going to match and Galveston didn't seem like it would compete with our top three or four. Logically both of us wanted to just cancel it. Not spend the money or time. And we almost did. But neither of us felt good about not going. It's not that we wanted to, just the idea of cancelling felt so wrong. I was particularly annoyed with that. But I kept saying, "we both feel like he needs to go." So alas, Landon went. And he LOVED it. And we love the idea of it now. Who knows where it will end up on our rank list(well actually we kind of know :)!) but I just know that the feeling we were having was from the Lord. And if anything else, this experience was a reminder to me that Heavenly Father is so very aware of our current situation. He is guiding us and if we do all we can he will lead us to the place we are suppose to be. I'm more confident in that than ever and I'm excited to see where he will lead us to next!!

 Happy New Years!!!
