Week 19: Merry Christmas 2020

It was a super Merry Christmas in Kentucky with just us and our littles! BYU won in an awesome bowl game. Landon got the COVID vaccine. We had so many happy Christmas Cards. We were significantly served by 4 teenagers this week. Our car died and I needed to go deliver presents to kids in our primary. So I knocked on the door of our neighbors and asked for help. Two 15 year olds, a 18 year old and a boyfriend (age unknown) came over and tried to jump the car. We tried with three different jumper cables and two different cars and a truck. They just kept saying “do you have a few more minutes for us to try.....” and I was like “hey! I’m stuck here either way so yes, please, try something else.” When we finally started the car, the kids celebrated like they won the Super Bowl. I’m convinced no adult would have tried as hard and we would have needed to call a tow truck or something. So they saved us a few hundred dollars. I bought them donuts and they were ecstatic. It was such a Christmas moment. And we were the beneficiaries.

We watched movies all day Christmas Eve while prepping for our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. The older boys were such big helps. Setting and decorating the table, straightening up the house, getting Luke dressed in nicer clothes (ahem.... just clothes.) We have turned the corner of just littles to kiddos & littles. It’s the best!! We had a peaceful devotional and the boys fell asleep in our bed.

Christmas was magical. I made vegan cinnamon rolls so I could eat them. They turned out pretty good. (Brigs poop turned yellow for the first time in three weeks. So that made all this dairy free business feel worth it.) We ate breakfast slowly and sat in the excitement and anticipation. Then we opened the presents. I bought all these presents on prime day in October so it was kind of funny trying to remember and find which present was which funny.

Landons favorite presents were his shoes & money. My favorite presents were my steam mop and necklace. Jaxson’s favorites were his books and his football cards. Tyler’s favorites were his lego remote control robot and his clothes. Luke’s favorite were his animal book and polar bear shirt. Brigs was grateful that mummy remembered he existed cause otherwise he would not have gotten anything. My favorites Brigs got (since he’s indifferent and just wants milk) were his adorable footie jammies and this darling color book.

We stretched out presents long enough that by the time we were done we had to head straight to the movies. We rented out a theater and invited some fellow fellow families and residents to join. Landon and I thought Croods 2 was just okay but our boys loved it! We ended the day playing with presents, FaceTiming family, and my favorite watching It’s A Wonderful Life. It’s the best best best and Landon and I both cuddled up with the burning fired and cried.

Yesterday we let the boys continue playing and relaxing cause that’s what they wanted to do. The only caveat is that we weren’t going to join cause we needed to clean. So they played and Landon and I cleaned and talked all day. We ended the night with a date, Landon gave me a massage, which I kept saying I didn’t need but he insisted. I love him! Then we watched a show and ate Vegan burgers from Bru Burger. They were yummy!!!

Today we had the sacrament and then the boys have been playing nurf gun battles for the last two hours. Christmas time is magical and wonderful and I’m sooooo grateful Landon got 4 full days off for Christmas. Can’t remember the last time that happened.

Week 18: Pooped

Landon

Back to the real grind. He was on call this weekend and was at the hospital most of it. He accidentally placed a line in the artery instead of a vein and that discouraged him and he felt embarrassed. But that’s what fellowship is for and the patient was okay. His attendings were encouraging and told him they’ve all made the same mistake. Tonight he is pooped and he heads in tomorrow morning at 2am for a heart transplant. But he also made dinner and cleaned up the upstairs while we were all downstairs watching Christmas with the Kranks. We are so blessed to have him.

Becca;

Our heater broke this week and our house got down to 54 degrees and we all piled in one room with one heater and did online school and listened to music all day. I felt like such a mom! I was feeling super exhausted today but then my extended family did a zoom Christmas party and it lifted my spirits!!! We had a good week. Landon was gone most of it and I felt capable and happy, even though, four little boys at home all day long is no joke. But I know that this will be my favorite time I look back on with littles. Littles in Kentucky. If I could just get my back feeling better that would be great.

Jax & Ty

They finished online school and have become best friends. They giggle and grille together all the day long. Jax keeps talking about sports and Ty keeps puzzling. Jax almost beat Landon in horse and Ty cheered so loud for Jax to win. Then there were tears. Honestly, there may have been tears either way.

Luke:

He’s been the cutest most lovable little dude. We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Carol of the Bells (“Ding Dong song”), and Jingle Bells are his jam. He also loves reading the "find the picture Christmas tree book."

Luke:

He is having poop problems. I’ve been off dairy for two weeks and it’s still bloody and green and mucosy. He often spits up what I feed him too. But his brothers absolutely adore him and he has made this time pure Heaven.

Ps; we gave a garbage truck man, whose truck broke down, hot cocoa and lunch

Pps; My friend Tiff sent me a week worth of meals, and grandparents have sent presents, and church members have dropped off things, and I’m continually amazed at how small this big world feels. Also, if someone sent us a BYU Jenga and it wasn't suppose to be anonymous, let me know because we love it. Thank you!

Week 17: A Very Merry Life

This last month has been the best of my life. I’m just trying to eat up every minute of it. Things feels so happy!!

Landon:

I watched him put out a fire in our house as calm as if he were filling up a class of water. I’ll never forget it!!! Then I said “how did you stay so calm” and he said “you just so the anesthesiologist side of me.” Soooooo cool!!!! The stove is okay by the way.

Becca

Other than my constant severe back pain at night... life is legitimately the best. In a matter of weeks my entire future unfolded and now I just understand what my future will be and it’s bringing so much peace. Also, I am loving my mom world right now. Its topped all other mom moments and I hope to be able to remember this time always. Gosh I love my boys so much!!!

Jaxson:

I forgot to say that he wrote 10+ pages to the CFP committee to explain why BYU should be in the top 10(I mean that was before BYU lost) but gosh I love his passion. Now he’s spending all his time researching which dog he’s going to get once we are in Spokane and done with fellowship. I love him so much.

Tyler

Gosh this kid is the MVP of Brigs birth!! He has stepped up. Jax and Ty spend all their time giggling and playing together. They are all each other have and they are the bestest friends because of it. What an incredible blessing!!! He loved cooking empanadas with Landon today. Ty is in this perfect place right now where he’s adorable as can be but he is so capable and grown up. Oh don’t change little dude, but when you do... I can’t wait to see what more you are :).

Luke:

He sings his way through life. Even just now when I put him to bed he was just singing his heart. He’s so social and musical. I’m amazed at his ability to both learn a song and sing a tune that I can understand. He knows 25+ songs at least. He’s such a performer. He’s been so much better this week. He always gives brigs kisses and says “oooooo yoooo tuuuute.” He loves his brothers being home from school. Online school has been a blessing for our family in so many ways.

Brigham:

I LOVE BABIES!!! I love him!!! He is doing all the things he needs to be and doing them well. Starting to track and coo. He has started to have blood in his stools. I took him to the pediatrician and she said I needed to stop eating anything with dairy in it for the next month at least, and if that doesn’t work we will move on to eggs and nuts and on and on. Whew. Grateful Landon and I have dabbled on and off in vegan eating because it’s made it easier to have no dairy in life. Hoping not eating dairy is all it will take. We are obsessed with our briggers. He has completed our family in such a beautiful way.

I love life right now!!!

Lukes "I hate being replaced" face makes me laugh so hard. You weren't replaced bud! We just wanted you to have a BFF!!!!!

Some of Jaxson's crossed off letter to the CPF Committee. He was upset when BYU lost and crossed it all off but I just love him for this so much!
