2024 Moments: Week 21

Lando:

We are sitting here at Luke’s concert. Which is really just a reason to put k-2 and their families in a small space and drive people mad….. Anyway, kids are running around everywhere. It’s raining outside. It’s so loud I can’t hear the second graders. One of Luke’s classmates came up and started talking to us. Landon then started repeating everything he said. “You are” “no you are.” “Stop doing that” “no you stop doing that”. That went on for about a minute until that kid ran away. To which landon looked at me and proudly said “I’m so good with kids.” 😂

Becs: I made dinner and plated all the food. I told Jax to run and go get his brothers at friends. I set the table and then Landon and I sat down. Landon looked at me and I could see what he was thinking “let’s say prayer and eat in peace.” I smiled, and he started praying. While he prayed I opened my eyes and had the thought, “I know I wish for a lot of peace…. But I wanted these four. And I would be devastated right now if these four
played weren’t actually going to be filled soon.” Landon closed the prayer. We took one bite. And then the door opened. In walked Luke and Ty with dirt and mud ALL over them…… maybe they could have stayed out a litttle longer :).

I was also grateful to Katelyn for watching Brigs so we could go to Nate’s brother’s funeral. Life is short!

Jax: Jax begged us to let him skip school to go support all his friends at the track meet. He also invited another friend to come watch with him. I did let him get out for the last period and he went and watched all his buddies run. Such a cute supporter!

Also CRUSHED him in the leg wrestle. It was hilarious.

Ty: I had the best time with Ty in Vancouver. The moments I’ll remember:

When I told him Messi wasn’t coming. He went quiet and immediately went back to “reading his book”…. A tear rolled down his cheek.

When he got sushi and grinned like the grinch at Christmas

On our bike ride he stopped every couple of minutes to: climb a tree, find a clam, look for shells, etc.

Luke: Jax and Ty and Landon and me all tried to convince Luke out of going to sing at his concert. But he held strong! He wanted to preform. And I loved that about him, in that moment. Plus his conviction to do what he wanted, even though he was brided with A LOT of things to skip it.

Brigham: Brigs had the best time with Dad while we were gone. And when we got home, Landon had to go to work, and Brigs sobbed and grabbed onto dad. That was really sweet.

Also brigs put gum in his hair and pooped I  the street this week.

2024 Moments: Week 20

Ty turned 9 this week! Birthday weeks are wonderful. And exhausting too. So much good food (Ty’s Picks: crepes, sushi, biscuits and gravy, empanadas!!!!) and so many friends (Ty’s picks: Dittos, Pickett’s, Harwoods!!!)

Ty’s favorite moment of the week was finding out that he is going to Canada for his birthday trip! We bought tickets to this game, Messi is hopefully playing.

Other notable moments—I forgot to write them down this week:

Someone hit the ball and Luke ran right over to it, but ended up taking it from the third base player. Coach Tony said “Luke trust your teammate.” The next time that same thing happened he trusted his teammate. I was impressed with his listening.

Jax sung in an all boys choir at church. I want to remember that I could slightly hear his voice and that it was beautiful!! He even smiled a little. He also passed the sacrament to us today and I just tried to make him look LESS like a zombie. I just smiled at him the whole time. And he couldn’t not smile. But he tried so hard.

I asked the boys to wipe off all the water on the tables outside, and wipe off the wet deck. Ty had brigs sit on a towel and pulled him around.

I had a really good and meaningful and shifting conversation with Landon on Wednesday afternoon. It meant a lot to me. And I learned a lot. And some of the things Landon said to me were, just so perfect and loving and sweet. I hope our boys will be as loyal and accepting and confident in themselves and their spouse and God as Landon is.

Landon bought us tickets to a candle lit quartet. And it was SO cool. We both really loved it. They would tell you some details of the music they were playing and we both just let our minds run beautifully through Vilvaldi Four Seasons.

Other highlights:
Chore chart making together
Ty’s soccer game was EPIC! Last coaching game. Boys came back to win it 5-4. Ty is so fun to watch!!
We did BLTS and Baseball with the Pickett’s
We went and watched Laynie qualify for state in the mile
Brigs but Brother Birch and Ashton and Ty and Luke
I got to spend time with Alayna and Clara!! Who I adopt as my nieces whenever I can. I love Katelyn so much.
