Still So Much Good in the World!!!!!

On November 27th Adriana Farar invited Jax and I over to her home for a play date. It meant a lot to me. It was such a simple act of kindness. I was there all morning and then she fed Jax and I lunch. She even remembered it was my birthday the next day. She said, "I bought a lunch special on Groupon that Damond and I have been meaning to use, but it expires soon, and we haven't used it. I would like to take you to lunch tomorrow for your birthday." She did that and then invited some of my other friends to come. She didn't know that I loved birthdays, and she didn't know that landon wouldn't be home all day to celebrate with me. She just was being her.

The Farar's left to Arizona 2 days later. And then their whole world changed just a few weeks after that. Those two days--Nov 27-28th--have never left my mind or my heart. I hope they never will. I hope they serve as a reminder of how we can serve simply. Adriana, if you ever read this, thank you. Thank you for showing me charity. Showing me love. Being an example. Being a disciple of Christ. I will never forget what you did for me. I love you.

The Everything Sale was as successful as it was because so many people experienced the same simple acts of kindness as I did from the Farars. The gospel is the greatest part of my life. The church is the greatest organization that i've ever been a part of. But besides those two things, i've never been a part of a more uplifting, inspiring, motivating, incredible event in my life. We almost filled a 24 foot truck with donations. Donations given to us from people all around Indianapolis. We almost covered an entire parking lot full of donations. People were working from 5:00am-7:00pm on Saturday. I can't even begin to express the spirit that was felt their. Before the sale even started a man walked up to Alanna and gave her $400 and walked away. Didn't buy a single thing. People would read the Farar's story and pay 20 dollars for a pair of socks. There were 5 teenagers in our ward that stayed and worked at the sale for 10 hours. 10 HOURS!! Amazing.

There are so many good people in this world. Turning on the news can be so discouraging. Sometimes it seems like you can see darkness more than you can see light. But what a reminder to me, that people are so good and giving and humble and people are trying. A reminder to me that there is a light of Christ in everyone.

The sale was so successful. And its not surprising that Damond and Adriana are still touching lives all over the world. We may have been able to raise some money for Adriana and her boys, but she and Damond and their family... they've left impressions on and in our hearts. Impressions that will last forever. They've touched the lives of thousands. They've given us an example to look up to and strive to be like. Landon and I look up to them, we love them and we pray for them. And from my experience yesterday, hundreds of other people feel the very same way.

I hope I never forget what yesterday was like. It was a special day, surrounded by special people, for a special family. May God bless the Farars and all those who are struggling with the loss of a loved one. You are angels!

What an amazing week! Take a look :)

After four tests this week, we are ready for spring break

But I made it and It was wonderful and I felt so much peace! I enjoyed talking to Jenelle on the way home. Thanks for keeping me up Jenelle! I love the temple!!!

August 2012
 This week.....

WE
Splurged way too much this week. We are ashamed. Yet... not really ;). We got Moes on Wednesday, I had Arby's on Thursday, and butter burgers from Culver's on Friday. Don't know if we will ever go to Culver's again. I only get arby's on my way home from the temple... But honestly, Moes may become our costa vida. Not as good, BUT same price range and we both just get so excited about take out + episode of psych!! Maybe too excited??? Nahhh ;).

We also had dinner with the Hess's & Haslam's tonight. The husbands from these families are Landon's intramural buddies. Their team is the Lone Peak of IUPUI. If you want to know what I mean go here. If you don't care, continue on. But we love both of them! We also may have creepily stared into the Daetwylers window on our way to visit with the Naylors tonight. Basically. We just love where we are at. And feel like we have so many people to learn from and grow with!!

Lando
Mmmm... Studied. Basketball (Won by like 60 points. Seriously Lone Peak of IUPUI). Studied. He had the amazing opportunity of going to a Leadership training with Elder Ballard(an apostle of the Lord) on Saturday. I could feel that his spirit was strengthened. He is doing so much and I am so proud of him. But mostly i'm just proud of myself for picking him ;). Landon finished Enders Game and now is reading Getting More. He listens to these books on his way home from school. Thanks to Johnny who lets him borrow his Audible account. :)

Becs
Hung out with the Hays monday morning. Their home is beautiful and I got so excited about living in a home when I was there. Don't worry, not too excited ;)..... ahem.... Tiffany let me come with her to play the Organ this week. I want to learn (Maddie... help me too;)!). Between Tiff, Maddie and Lacey... I think I could play a few hymns. I'm excited. I also had a PJ day this week and believe that I am going to make it a weekly tradition. On Thursday I visited Kathi Mann who is one of the most wonderful, beautiful, amazing women. It was honestly a powerful experience and just another reminder that I have so much to learn. Thanks Kathi! I went to the temple Thursday night and then we watched Josh & Nate for part of the weekend. It may have lasted longer besides the throwing up. I'm so sorry!!! I hate it when I return children in worse shape then when they came. Boo... Anyway... I'm reading Matched right now. I like it! Personally, I think its a mix between Hunger Games/Twilight/The Giver. Funny thing is, if you read the back, it says that very thing. Minus The Giver.

Jax
Loves to sit on curbs. And turns around constantly so he can sit on some random curb. Has the most wonderful curly hair the back. I don't want to cut it because I don't want to lose that. Loves hot dogs. Probably too much. But is it off set by him being OBSESSED with cottage cheese? Fell on his head at least 5 times today. Dawn almost caught him once, but alas... he fell too fast! He LOVED playing with his cousins this weekend. Today I could visibly tell that he was looking for them and then I could tell that he was really sad when he realized they were gone. So cute.
Info about Jax: Sleeps from 7-7ish. Nap from 1-3ish. Eats all day. Watches sesame street after his nap. Goes to bed incredibly well. Has six teeth. Cuddles more. Greatest thing around!

Next Week: Everything Sale. Pray. Come. Donate. Remember the wonderful Farar Family. PS. If you want to donate a dollar, look at the second flyer below.
