COVID-19 + Potty Training

I mean, I can't think of two crazier things to pair together in one week.

Lando:
Work is getting crazy. All elective surgeries at the U have been canceled effective immediately. Anesthesia will be some of the first responders to COVID patients. Which is equal parts humbling and a little nerve wracking. I think its probably safe to say that a large percentage of the Anesthesiologists at the U will be some of the first medical staff to get the virus.

His marathon was canceled. And he was so helpful around the house this week. I felt an extreme amount of love from him because of it.

Becs:
I had that brilliant idea to start potty training on Monday. Luckily, luckily, I had kind of already prepared for the coronavirus during the previous weeks. After everything going on in China and then Italy, and watching the news, I made a big trip to Costco and a big Amazon shipment about two weeks ago. So I was able to avoid the crowds this week.

Grateful for Tys teachers Gabby & Ben for having us over on Tuesday. And Angelina last night for doing Pie Night with us. Also grateful for the sweet moment last night where I was studying and praying about all sort of things and I read from Jacob: "Why not speak of the atonement of Christ" Jacob 4:12

Jax:
He is bummed that school is canceled. He played with Alice and Oscar a lot this week. I love those two.

Ty:
He was a good patient buddy during this week of potty training. I loved all the times he helped get Luke chocolate when he peed in the potty. Or wanted to help me and dad cook. I also love that he is still going strong, sleeping in his box.

Luke:
What a week little dude. Everyone else is out their scared of the coronavirus, and you're in here scared to go poop. And honestly, both emotions are valid.  But after 7 full days, I feel like we are trending upward to successfully potty trained, again, similar to the virus. But hopefully we don't flatten the success of potty training curve. And just flatten the COVID-19 curve. Don't judge me for mixing these two together. When you spend hours and hours and hours on the bathroom floor, you find lots of connections between the two. :)

OUR SOCIAL DISTANCING PLAN:

Landon decided that a global pandemic deserved a game console. So he drove down to Scotty's house and borrowed The Switch from him. The boys are THRILLED!

8:00-9:00: Breakfast, @comefollowmechats, straighten, prayers
9:00-11:00: Running/walking/biking/hiking and then outside while I get ready
11:00: Lunch
11:30-12:30 Reading Practice/Piano Practice/Writing Practice
12:30-1:30: Project together/Nap Luke
1:30-3:00: Quiet Time/School Time/Nap Luke
3:00-5:00 The Switch

5:30 Dinner

I'm super duper grateful that I home schooled last year. I feel a lot more prepared for this than I would have had we not done that.

Singing in the Rain

Lando:
He had lots of call, and ran some. He took me on a date Thursday night, but showed up 3.5 hours late, so it was a 30 minute date then he fell asleep. He went to a funeral for one of his attending's wife. She did of breast cancer. They had two young boys. Thats so sad. We picked him up from the hospital at 8:51am this morning for church. After he worked through the night. I love him for coming still.

Becs:
I had a great week. Life feels happy! I feel like I could really sing in the rain!!!! I brought food to Jaxy's class "eating the countries". The highlight was FOR SURE taking Ty Ty on a date. We went and got Sushi and then went to Singing in the Rain with an Orchestra playing the music on stage. He felt so grown up and was a complete joy al 5 hours! We had a Leap Day party with all of the cousins and that was really fun. I've been loving my studies and really dug deep this week into my @comefollowmechats. I also taught in Sunday School, and it was a class full of serious questions, and we talked about them. And I love that! Also, I've been back on instagram for the last few weeks and.... I. LOVE. IT. Its just been so refreshing for me, starting over and following what I want to. Other highlights were Children's Museum with Lace and a warm sunny day with Anna and her kiddos.

Jax:
He has been packing his school lunches these days. Which, is. the. best. He makes sure to make his PB&Honey Sandwiches, BYU themed. He got a read comprehension score back, and he's testing at an 10th grade level. Where did this boy come from? I was part dyslexic/did all things phonics/my mom signed me up at Sylvan learning center where they helped me try to read better. And Landon just didn't like reading. So, its fun watching him love it. He also helped me so many times this week. And each time, I pulled him aside, and praised him. I'm so grateful for the young man he is becoming.

Ty:
He seemed way to grown up for me on our date. I was blown away at how he sat through 2 hours worth of orchestra/singing in the rain without complaint. At intermission this was our conversation:
Me: Ty do you want to go get a treat?
Ty: Yeah but, that movie wasn't very good right?
Me: Well... it is only half way over.
Ty: [Thought for a second]..... oh. well. half the movie isn't very good right?
His favorite scene was the song Make Em' Laugh which I had never seen and its fantastic.
He taught me this week about compound words. Like what? He's in preschool! "A compound word mom is two word smushed together. Like Sea. Horse.... Seahorse! or Base. Ball. Baseball!"

Luke:
He is talking. SO MUCH! and SO loud! He can say all of our names: Daddy, mommy, jajon, ty ty, Mummy, Nana, Papa, Gary, Harper, Hailey, Cope, Hallie and Luke. He hasn't gotten Linc, Liam, or Levi yet, but that will come! And Hazel is his hardest cousin name. And Jaxson, well mostly just sounds like Daddy. Those are tough ones.

For FHE this week we made made Woolf Family Rules. We made a long list of things and then narrowed it down to three.

1: Love each other
2: Be grateful
3: Obey mom & dad

We've been trying to parent within those parameters this week. And because we made these rules together, it felt easier to discipline.

Jaxson's Lunch: Y honey.
