Best Week of Summer 2023

 We’ve done a lot this summer. But this week was my favorite!!! It started with our Priest Lake Camping plans with the Dittos needing to be canceled because of smoke and rain. We searched the PNW area for a place that didn’t have RAIN didn’t have SMOKE. We couldn’t just stay home on Landons week off. And it’s not like he can just shift his week off. We found this little Airbnb that was reasonably affordable near the Oregon coast, told the Dittos they should join, and then really quickly revamped our whole plans and headed 7 hours west! 

The smoke was so incredibly sad. And it was thick for awhile. It wasn’t til less than 2 hours to our Airbnb that we started being able to see sky. All the kids flipped when we opened the car door and they could smell fresh air!! 

It was so fun traveling with the Dittos!! We are very like minded in our vacays. Choose adventure, be flexible, don’t sleep 😂. But reallllly. We drove 18 hours, played for 30 hours and slept for 14 hours. Best 2.5 days ever!! We love the Dittos! 

But then actually, we got home, unpacked and packed back up again to go on our anniversary trip. Just me and lando (thanks Becca Becca!!!) We read, and planned, and set goals, and loved, and (didn’t sleep again… because I’m the worst sleeper…I probably only slept 5 hours between two nights—it was just so windy and loud and uncomfortable.. it’s fine). The glamping setting was so fun!!!

Financial goals (G.A.I.N)

Being together. (no acronym needed… ahem) 

We made some REALLY awesome plans and goals and I’m really excited to see where our 14th year of marriage takes!!! 

We ended the trip with Ed Sheeran. He’s amazing. It was wild!! 

Im obsessed with Landon. He’s my very best friend ever!! He has changed my whole life! 

Today we drove home. Went and taught the Martínez family. Now came home and made dinner, hugged the boys and Becca Becca. Played Skull King and now we are chatting with Becca Becca. She’s amazing!!! I’m going to be so sad when she gets married 😂😂. But actually really happy. But mainly sad.

Monday: Unpacking, playing with friends
Tuesday: Repacking, camping at Boundary Damn 
Wednesday: Landon got his provisional day granted, more camping + Relief Society Activity 
Thursday: Unpacking, grocery trips, friends, work meeting + ward council + Relief Society Visits 

Friday: I went to the temple, I took the boys to the Moses Lake Open House, Brigs pooped his pants, driving home we saw the most massive wild fire. Right after passing it, the fire hopped the freeway. Block party, Church involved with Red Cross so gathering supplies for evacuees
Saturday: Spokane has worst air quality in the world. Dinner with the Condons. I crushed in Skull King 
Sunday: Zoom church, Cinderella, Naps, Fiesta Lunch, Returning all the stuff, Petersons. 

Life is a crazy thing. Seeing the houses burn down from the freeway instantly put a pit in my stomach. How do we both appreciate all that we have, live in the moment, focus on the people around us and get work done? How do we live like we were dying and live for a better tomorrow? 

I don't know. 

But what I do know is Landon and my boys are the people I want to be figuring all of this out with. I'm also grateful for the temple. Its also been a place of rest for me.
