My Friday morning journal entry:
I woke Jaxson up on Thursday morning at 5:30 to head to the airport! He didn’t have any idea where we were going. When we got to the airport and he saw LAX but realized, “I still don’t have any idea where we are going.”
The day started off rough. We were about to take off when the Pilot got on and said we had to wait an hour on the tarmac until the fog in LA cleared. After an hour, he came back on and said we’d have to wait another hour. So they drove the plane back and filled up with gas and let us off. 2.5 hours after our initial take off time, we were in the air.
(I did introduce Jaxson to the Starbucks Vanilla Bean Frappuccino. His kind was blown.)
Once we got to LAX we realized how crazy it was. I don’t know if I’ll ever fly there again. We waited in the rental car shuttle pick up for an hour. Only to be taken to Budget and see a line a mile long. It was 1:30 at that point and I just couldn’t risk not getting to Six Flags on time. So we ubered to another car rental place. And paid $60 extra to not have to wait in a line like that!
I was pretty upset at this point though. I couldn’t believe this is how our day had gone! We grabbed some Taco Bell about ten minutes away from our hotel and Jax LITERALLY said “This has been a really fun trip so far.” I laughed out loud. THAT phrase describes Jaxson to his core. He knew I was discouraged, he wanted to try and remain positive, he is grateful. HOW DID WE END UP SO LUCKY AS TO RAISE A KID LIKE JAXSON???!!!!!”
Now the fun part. 5 minutes from our hotel Jaxson saw six flags. And he flipped. “I can’t believe I forgot about Six Flags!!!! No way!!!!” We got to our hotel and ate Taco Bell. I laid down for 30 minutes while Jaxson researched all the rides. Then we headed to the park. Jaxson kept saying “I don’t think I’ve ever been more exited in my entire life.”
The six hours we spent at Six Flags on Thursday night October 19th, were some of the funnest 6 hours of my life. We rode TWENTY TWO roller coasters. We ran from ride to ride! Basically 20,000 steps in 6 hours. Jaxson just kept relishing in how fun it was and saying thank you over and over. We rode 7 rides in the first hour and 5 of those rides were really twisty (which we both hated). Our stomachs did not feel good. We grabbed coke and fries and went and legit found a ride with a line. We waited 30 minutes for Goliath and ate our fries. We needed that full 30 minutes! But after that we never got sick again.
X-2 and Tatsu and Full Throttle were WILD!!!! Superman is so fun!! And Goliaths drop just gets me every single time. We had the same top five rides. But they ranked differently. The only part of the night that Jaxson didn’t like was it was fright nights. So there were costumed bloody people trying to scare you. Jax got nervous running between rides. So I took initiative, as the protective mother…. He ran right behind me and any time someone tried to come up and scare us, I would scream in their faces!!! I scared a few of them. They were not expecting me to scream at them. Then we would both laugh and keep running!!
I CANT BELIEVE I HAVE A 12 YEAR OLD. 12 years ago today, right now, I was in the hospital with my 7 hour old baby. New parents, first time mom. I was the happiest! But this morning my joy is even more. Because not only did I get the privilege of having jaxsons little body and spirit come to our lives. BUT I also have gotten the privilege of getting to KNOW Jaxson. And he is the best of the best!! Another half day at Six Flags then we are headed home!
SIX FLAGS WAS AMAZING!
We went on 33 rides in 10 hours.
When we got home, I realized again, just how lucky I am. Landon had completely redone our bedroom wall. How? When he had all the kids and worked through the night Thursday? And then on Saturday we just spend time outside watching our kids play the sports they loved! Tyler had some impressive goals but even more impressive assists. Luke had some awesome defensive plays and Jax had a touchdown and 2 interceptions, to take us to the championship. And we won! Such a fun day.
Then we headed to the Dittos to watch the cougars win and eat food. And we brought nothing but four boys to mess their house up with. Friends that feel like family make life so much easier when youre away from all of your family.
Today we had two families over for Jaxson's birthday dinner. Two families from Jaxson's basketball team. They are such good people and I can see us getting closer and closer as these boys continue with their love for basketball.
AND i'm exhausted. I'm so tired. I think the rollercoasters have left me with a bit of a migraine and low grade nausea. Is that a thing? Post rollercoaster side effects. I dont know, it doesn't matter
WORTH IT!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAXSON.
