2024 Moments: Week 32

 Lando:

This is a text I sent to Landon’s parents tonight: 

Landon spoke today. Gosh he’s an amazing speaker. The best every time. 

But he was asked to speak about parenting in regards to Alma and his sons. 

I wish I had recorded it. I’m mad i didn’t. But alas. 

He had this awesome opener from our time at Trek. And then he wrapped that in at the end. So good. But he’ll have to tell you about it. 

He talked about three principles he saw from Alma’s Parenting. 

1: Alma corrected 

2: Alma was vulnerable 

3: Alma showed up (Alma 43:1) 

It makes sense that in this story he’d naturally consider his own relationship with his dad. 

And then he told about three stories 

1: Landon’s scout hike with you Papa Woolf, the ranger and the body bag 

2: The emails Papa Woolf wrote when he was on his mission and how vulnerable he was 

3: He talked about his YMs President, Ralph, and how he called him last year before he passed. He asked him what advisor he’d give his priest and Ralph said: “just show up.” 

Anyway, he cried telling all three stories. He loves you both so much and reveres you both!

Becca:

So many decisions about so many things this week. What to do with my cute nieces!!! How to love them. So much for young women’s. What we should buy for our boat. If we should really buy a boat. What our colors for pictures should be. Then what clothes for this pictures. What our logo should be. What we should do in Yellowstone. But I went back through my texts this week and this was just one of the MANY decisions I wanted to make. Poor landon, gets the brunt of my thoughts: (This was over several days, just at random times)

JAXSON:

This is a text convo I had with Jaxson this week! So grateful for his awesome babysitting! 

Could I watch the Olympics while the boys watch a movie?

Yes

Tyler:

The Dittos took Ty wakeboarding and he’s crushing it!! Annie text me a picture. And my response was “Tyyyyy!!!! Stand up kid 😊” because he is still just sitting in that seat!! He’s going to be good at wakeboarding, I can feel it! 

Luke: 

I text my mom our family pictures and her response was “When did Luke get so grown up. He is so handsome.” I KNOW 😫😫. 

I also sent Leah a text to let her know that “Avie is legit being followed by Luke every minute of the day!”  

Brigs:

This is a text convo I sent to Leah about Brigs:

“Brigs woke up this morning and said 

Mom! Yast(last) night I was talking to wukie(Luke) and saying that I miss my cousins. And I cried. 🥺”

He then proceeded to tell me that it was okay because Luke told him that we were going to Alaska with Nana and Popsie in two weeks! 

Such the sweet brother convo happening while I’m not there. 

The BOAT:

Yep! We bought a boat!! 

So many text convos. But this is one: 

Bad news 

This boat can’t be parked at our house 

Oh no.  It doesn’t fit?

nope 

We’ve been working with it for an hour. Driving all over our neighbors grass. It just doesn’t fit

Well that’s not good.

Are you just going to park it in front of the house on the corner? They seem to like stuff. 

We don’t know. Currently trying to weasle its way out by hand. One inch at a time

Casey’s going to head over.

Yep! Lots of things to learn!! It took us 2.5 hours to get the boat parked. But Landon and I didn’t fight once. And when we don’t fight, we are doing what we are suppose to be doing and we are where we are suppose to be!! So all good. Great boat day with our boatnership the Pickett’s! 

2024 Moments: Week 31

 Lando:

We were all in his new truck this week. On our way to test drive a boat, listening to country music from our high school years. And Lando was in. His. Element. Dadding up his life with all the American dream things. 

Becs:

I’ve had a hard emotional month. On Monday night I was really struggling. Landon was sweet and just sat on the couch with me til 1:00am and let me talk. It reminded me of the time I chatted with my friend on my 16th birthday. I just really needed it. And I’ve felt all better ever since. A scripture this week said “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.” Landon staying up late with me seems like a small thing. And yet, he has to go to work at 6:30 in the morning. He was on call a couple nights this week. He really didn’t get much sleep. In the grand scheme of things a late night is a small thing. But for me it was so helpful. 

Jaxson:

Today Jaxson fasted that his ankle would heal quicker. He then proceeded to 1) straighten the house while I was at meetings and dad was at work. Make Leah and Lincoln’s bed. Feed the boys lunch. Make two chocolate cakes. Make mashed potatoes (and cut himself in the process). All while keeping his cool. He’s just so the best! 

Tyler:

He has started helping Jaxson with mowing the lawn. But his hands aren’t super strong. So in order to help the lever down he brings tape with him that he can easily remove if something goes wrong. I love his mind SO dang much!! He also babysat Luke and Brigs while Landon and I were at the temple (Landon was only there to bring the food). But I was so impressed to come home and have them all outside playing happily. Ty’s set up capabilities are impressive. 

Luke: 

The other day Jaxson was suppose to be doing his chores.  But he started playing a church song on the piano, To Bring The World His Truth. I yelled down “Jax stop playing! You need to do your chores.” Jax then said “I am, Luke is playing the piano.” I then looked and sure enough he was not only playing the piano, but he was doing it by ear. And adding a few notes to the bottom hand. 🤯

Brigs:

This morning I woke up to hear the front door open and shut. And I ran downstairs to find no one. I opened the door to find no one. I looked around to find no one. I opened my Vivint app to see Brigs on the front porch. I opened up the door and yelled brighams name. He popped his head out from our neighbors door. 🤦‍♀️ He had walked over there and rang the doorbell at 6:30 in the morning to see if he could get a car.
