FIRST MARATHON!!!!!

Oh man!!!! Between Thanksgiving, Gilmore Girls, weekend trip to Seattle with Landon, the Marathon, and my birthday. This weekend was epic!!!!

Becs:
I DID IT!!!!!! I ran a marathon and i'm hooked. Yay! I started training on July 1 and spent 5 months running. It was amazing. And hard. I mostly woke up before Landon went to work. Soooo between 3:30-5:00. It was dark. And it got cold at the end. But I also did some training in UT & AZ with the help of family! YAY! Things I want to remember about this first marathon:
  • I couldn't sleep the night before so finally I asked Landon for a blessing at 12:00 and I was asleep before he ended the blessing.
  • Woke up at 5:00 and ate a bagel & banana
  • We got lost on the way to the race and the ONLY reason we found it was because some car sensed we were lost, pulled over, flashed his emergency blinkers on. We flipped a U and followed, he led us RIGHT to the race
  • Was only there at the race 6 minutes before start, whoops
  • I smiled from ear to ear for the first 13.1 miles
  • My hips started hurting at 13.1 miles and that was a little discouraging
  • I watched a bald eagle dive at a group of ducks over and over
  • There was a couple running by me, this was just their workout run, he'd run 35 marathons. She had run 178. What? Stupid. But I kind of want to be like them
  • Landon cheered me on at 8 different places
  • Mahyo came and cheered me on at 3
  • The last six miles my hips hurt but I was loving it
  • I ate triangle pb&j, an orange, and drank a small glass of water at every aid station
  • My time was 13 minutes slower than I hoped for, but it poured ran the whole race
  • I ran lots and lots of puddles
  • 4:33
  • I listend to Serial from miles 14-22 and music from miles 22-26!! This is my heart beat song was my last song.
  • It was soooo painful walking to the hotel from the car. But I kept thinking about my dad, he has that pain always
  • I took a long bath and Landon got me a message bar for my birthday and after that I walked up 4 flights of stairs and all through pike place
We are signing up for a marathon in APRIL!!! Come and join :)!!!

Landon:
Had thanksgiving off! He was able to play in the turkey bowl, he was the Quarterback. Then we went to Bishops for Lunch, amazing. Then we went to Moana. So cute. He took Ty out when Ty was through. And I cuddled and watched the rest of the movie with Jaxy. We watched "Fed Up" together on Netflix and it made me sick and sad. Watch it. We need to eat better. He has this whole next week off from work. YAY! He isn't watching any TV shows for a year, soooo we will see how he does and i'm proud of him for the commitment. But he did make sure I knew that he was allowed to watch Gilmore Girls and maybe the Bachelor....... Even more proud of this sports loving, girl show loving crazy :).

Jax & Ty:
HAD THE BEST TIME WITH OUR FRIENDS THE ADAMES!!!!!! They seriously were so happy when we got home from seattle. Jax couldn't stop talking about all the things they did. I think its soooo good for kids and parents to have breaks from each other. The boys were incredible happy and wonderful last night and so were we. The very first thing Jax asked me when I walked in the door was, "So mom! How was the Marathon?!" That made me happy, I was sad they missed it. I want them to see their mom do things, just like they see their dad. But I was excited to know that he was aware that I ran 26.2 miles and that "it is a long time! And you've run way more than daddy right?"

Happy week we had! I'd say!!!

Oh ty!

4 YEARS!!!

I can't believe its been four years since I started blogging every Sunday night. At that point I had been blogging for a few years, but I wasn't as consistent as I wanted to be. In November of 2012 I changed how I blogged and decided why I blogged and that seemed to make the difference.

My purpose:
  • Was so our family who lived 1,500+ miles away could see what our life was like.
  • My future posterity
  • Share the gospel
My limits:
  • Weekly journal entry felt doable for me-
  • I took comments off my blog so I wasn't driven by comments, but by what I wanted to write
My format:
  • Talk about each person in the family
    • (I did this because I felt like we were following Landon's path to become a doctor, but I wanted my kids to know that I had talents and passions and life outside of being their mom too)
  • Put pictures last.
    • I got this idea from a friend actually(Thanks Heather). Trying to organize and comment on every picture takes so much time--and I didn't want my blog to take so much time.
My execution:
  • I upload my pictures every Sunday morning
    • that can sometimes take 30 minutes to get uploaded. I've done this by plugging in my phone or camera into the computer, a blogger app(though thats been deleted--but i've read BlogGo works), and google photos--which may be my new favorite way.
  • Then sometime throughout the day I jot down what we did that week
    • Sometimes I type it on my notepad on my phone, sometimes I type it on the computer, sometimes I email it to myself, or I use blogger. It just depends on how the day goes and where I find my spare moment.
Well, thats been my thought process. And its worked for me and i'm so happy about that! I have an average of 150-250 readers a week--with a few outliers (309326, 400, and one that got 556). It makes me happy knowing some people read my blog. This blog is probably one of my proudest accomplishments. One day i'll figure out the best way to compile it into a book. But thats another conversation for another day. Probably my best and most consistent hobby in my life has been journaling. And I aside from the fact that it is really fun to me and therapeutic, i'm always thinking about my kids and their kids when I'm writing. Hopefully between my almost 28 journals and this blog... and Landon's dozen or so journals.... they will know what our life was like, what was important to us, and that we once looked semi cool, hip and young. ;)

Real quick:

Lando:
Has liked his pain anesthesia rotation so far. Not loved it, but not hated it either. When I asked if he had any updates he said, "No my life is boring" and then Jax quickly responded, "No dad! With me it's not! With me your life is not boring. But when I get to kindergarten, I won't have time to play with you.... not. one. bit. So things will be boring then." Hahaha I love that guy!

Oh and Landon & I went to the temple thursday night.

Becs:
I'm done with all my training. Next week I only run 6 miles and walk 2 miles, oh... and run 26.2 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!! And its thanksgiving and my birthday a few days after that. So you might say that this week will be one of the best of my life :)!!!! The Hobsons came up on Friday to visit and that was so fun :).

Jax:
Well he's been constipated. And apparently that can be as painful as if you have appendicitis. He's been in so much pain. He's lost weight--because it hurts to eat. He looks pale and he hasn't laughed a lot--because it hurts. But today he's been a little more lively.  Someone in our ward brought us dinner because they heard of Jax's delimna. That was so nice. He is 42lbs(61%) and 44.25 inches(78%) and when I told Landon that the doctor told me he is estimated to be over 6 feet tall, Landon jumped out of his chair and said, "LEEETTTTSSSS GOO!!!! A woolf over 6 feet!!!" Basically he has my families jeans.

Ty:
Has moved out of sitting in a high chair. LOVES eating breakfast--today he has two bowls of oatmeal, two scrambled spinach eggs, and an entire grapefruit. Last night he had spicy coconut thai. He is 23lbs (36%) 32 inches (36%) 19.5 head cm (95%). Basically he is a straight up bobble head.

Lewiston

Well! We are officially home from all of our traveling. 4 different states in 5 weeks. Yay! It was such a fun month, and Landon was sooooo busy so i'm glad in a sense that we were gone having parties. BUT its time to be back home, get back into routine, actually take Jax to school. Live life. Time!

Landon:
FINISHED ICU!!!!!!! Two down, one more to go. ICU Nights. Yikes. But he likes the ICU so that helps. He exercised like a boss this month, because I was gone so when he came home he just watched sports and exercised then went to bed. Every day. Poor guy missed us. But hey, he looks good!! He was so happy this afternoon. He just kept saying over and over (even though our house is a diaster, Ty was screaming, Jax was in serious pain, and did I mention our house looked like it exploded???) he kept saying, "I'm so grateful for our life. I love our life. I'm so happy." Whatev babe! Find good in all things, I mostly wanted to curl up in a ball and cry during that very moment. Life is hard sometimes no? Well hard for everyone but Landon, boo! :)

Becca:
I had SOOO much fun taking my boys to Lewiston to watch the Hobson kiddos. I love them to pieces and I seriously could have stayed for days. Ive been loving my runs so much this week. A few i've run fairly fast too. Im excited for my marathon. I've been reading, "In Defense of Food." Which is making me feel really guilty, but really motivated to eat better. I got another calling, Cub Scout Master. I actually think i'm the assistant actually, but the CSM is MIA for the next few months. I loved the RS lesson in church today. I really need to become more committed to my membership in the church and my relationship with God.

Jax:
Did great in his Primary program. "One of my favorite prophets is Alma the younger. What he did, is he did bad things. And then an angel came and told him he was doing bad things. And then he repented. What I learn from that is that if I repent, Jesus will always let me repent." He came up with the talk by himself and I just helped him memorize it... sooo it was a 5 year old talk and he was proud.
He has had some seriously weird pain the last few days. He was on the floor sobbing this morning so we took him into the hospital and they found nothing. But even tonight he was sobbing and short of breath and struggling to be comfortable. We aren't sure what is wrong with him but are grateful for family prayers and priesthood blessings.
He had the time of his life at Kade & Tenley's house. I love them when they are together!

Ty:
WENT TO NURSERY!!!!!! Loved playing with Ryder! Wants to dress just like his brother. Loves to destroy everything. Can give kisses and say bagel. Eats the best breakfasts. Loves food when he is healthy. He is the cutest dancer in the whole world and just danced his head off during the primary program. WENT TO NURSERY!!!!!! I love him. I seriously could eat him up lately he is so cute!

Election:
President Trump. This is a big moment for our country. I think the thing that has made me the most sad, is the reactions from people, from both parties, from all races and genders. There is a lot of hate swirling around. Thats satan's game. And it seems that everyone only see's the hate from the other side of the fence. President Trump has his work cut out for him. I'll pray for him. I'll pray for all the hurting people. I'll pray for all the angry people. I'll pray for all the people that don't even see, recognize, or believe that there is real hate going on. I'll pray for myself, to not add to the problem. America is great. I know I don't even comprehend how blessed my life is because of this land. I'm grateful I live here. I'm grateful to also have a testimony of God's plan and believe that we are all His children and all in His heart, mind and hands!
