Spring Time 2019

Landon:
He is done with Pre-op! He had a lot of fun in the work room with Shelly and Alli, it is very unusual for him to be around other doctors, especially fellow residents. We did date night with Jamie & Jonathan(another CA-2 with Lando). We went to Settebello's and Jonathan told us all about how to know if you're eating authentic Italian food. Jonathan made a comment about how an anesthesiologist is a very lonely profession. I asked why. He just talked about how they are always in a corner, alone, quietly monitoring, quietly making big decisions with no one the really aware. Most other medical professions round together, do surgery together, have lunch in their work room together. They have a team surrounding whatever they do. The more and more we get down this path, the more I realize how much I misunderstood the role of an Anesthesiologist. I think what Landon does is pretty incredible.

Becca:
Another off week. But I was able to make it to the temple and do 2 KonMari sessions. I'm loving the springness and having my front door open all day long. I went to a few Orange Theory class at 4:40am on Thursday. It was cool! I loved walking to Branbury with Anna and her kiddos. My FAVORITE part of my week was having lunch with Landon at the hospital. Its the first time we've been able to do that and it just made my day to be able to see him in the middle of the day.

Jaxson:
Uncel Cory gave Jax and Lando Jazz tickets for Monday night. Jax had a BLAST and then basically needed the whole week to recover. He was tired going to sleep at 1am. Friends, soccer, basketball, buddies with Ty... He loves when I let him make breakfast because it equals cereal. He performed Harry Potter's theme song on the piano at the ward talent show. He did amazing!

Ty:
Landon and I can barely handle his cuteness lately. He is a ball of emotions and when those emotions are endearing, they are so endearing. He is obsessed with Halloween. All things spooky, black, white, mummys, ghost, snakes, spiders, costumes, treats, bats.... I don't get it you guys. I've hated Halloween my whole life. But heaven knows i'm going to love it now. He is also loves to color things spooky things. So i've been doing a lot of art these days. For the ward talent show Ty made a BATCAVE out of Legos and stood in front of the WHOLE ward and talked about it. We were so proud of him!!!

Luke:
He is a chatter box. I have so many people in church comment on how they love how talkative he is...... And we don't have that a lot of kids/babies at our church so really, when Luke talks, everyone hears. He isn't walking yet. He doesn't seem to really care. But thats a problem, because everywhere we go I either have to hold him or he gets filthy. He loves balls. If you are on the floor, Luke comes right at you and tries to play/bang on your head. Whenever you say "NO" to him firmly, he has this sheepish look, where he put his head down, and his eyes down, but wants to know if you are still looking at him so looks up ever so slightly. Its seriously the cutest thing ever. We love our YUKERS to the moon and back. I can't believe he's one. ONE. one. He growls a lot too. More like gurgles.

Dude, you have to learn to walk.

This was me (in the front) in high school. The cute girl in the middle is Sarah my sister in law. Who knew we'd be sisters back then. I seriously feel so lucky and blessed that she is apart of OUR family. They are in Disneyland and I hope they have the bestest time!

Brotherly love. Seriously my parenting goals in no particular order are #1: To help them find something they are passionate about... not necessarily a career #2: I always want them to know that I love them, their dad, God and Christ. Forever. Always. No matter what! #3: Siblings=best best best best lifelong friends. #4: To teach my boys what good healthy relationships and marriages look like. #5: How to live a tidy life ;)

If I were to guess Landons:
#1: Become Life long learners
#2: Pick Adventures/Experiences over things
#3: Healthy living
#4: Develop a testimony in Christ
#5: Serve others, the church, and God

I just asked him and this is what he said....
Testimonys
Hard Work
Best Friends [with siblings]
Honest
Grateful
Studious
Curious

Easter with a One Year Old

Dear Landon:
This week you were elected as Chief Resident of your program. Well actually last week, but they announced it this week. I'm just mostly glad that everyone else see's what I see. A kind, hard working, happy, intelligent, ahem...sexy anesthesiologist;). You and the other Chiefs will be great and I know you feel humbled and honored and excited to give back just a little to a program you love so much. You also ran 45 miles. Drove me to St. George and back to see my mom speak in the St. George tabernacle. Did the dishes, cleaned the house and played with the boys while I went to a Kon Mari Consultation and made me feel special and loved yesterday and today. I honestly get exhausted just writing about you. Stop being so good. But also, thank you. We rocked out to music at 2:00am this morning to keep ourselves awake. I got to pick all the songs because you were driving. I belted this verse and chorus out from Martina McBride and then quiet tears rolled down my cheek with how beautifully it captures how I feel:

CHORUS:
Cause everyone who sees youAlways want's to know you
And everyone who knows you
Always have a smile
You're the dream that I've been chasin' after years of waiting
For a chance to finally shine
Everyone calls you amazing
I just call you mine

VERSE 2:
I fall apart
Just a word from you just somehow seems to fixWhatever's wrongOh, you reach into the weakest momentsAnd remind me that I'm strongYou've got to knowI'd be a fool not to see you even worseTo forget that you're more than I deserve

To anyone that actually made it through this paragraph, not sorry;)

Dear Me:
Life felt like it punched you in the gut this week. Seriously. With fellowship stuff and not feeling needed and Landon being gone so much and uncertainty with our future and finances with all the interviews.... I just felt low and exhausted and fearful. I hope this week I can choose faith more. I think if I diligently study the scriptures this week, that faith will just naturally come. Also, it took us basically all 9 hours in the car to decide that we will be going to all 7 fellowship interviews. We just don't know what we want and so we have to check out every option. I think this little decision will help me move forward.

Dear Jax:
You were the sweetest brother to Ty this week. Oh dude, you just played and played with him. It made me smile. I love your questions. I love how into sports you get. I love how you can go outside and shot hoops for hours. I love that i've had you more this school year. We had a pretty crazy day on Friday so when we finally got home at 3:00 I said you guys could watch a movie. You and Ty opted to go in your room and play balloon ball. Which you did for an hour an a half while Luke napped. I napped too. But before I dozed off I smiled to myself, listening to the way you were building and loving Ty. When I woke up I heard Ty crying, he was sad that you were done playing. You kindly responded, "Ty how about you come watch me shoot hoops for 30 minutes and then we will come back and play." Ty happily excepted that deal. What lucky brothers they are to have you. Also you gave the most simple and beautiful FHE on Monday night about how we need to be reverent and clean in the temple.

Dear Ty:
This week on Monday, Jax picked to get cookies for FHE. We got the cookies before dinner and of course I made you eat your dinner first. Chickpea Gyro with tzatziki sauce, tomatoes, red onion, chick peas, and spinach. You ate yours so quickly. When you were finished with your dinner, I went and got your cookie and set it right in front of you. To which you stated firmly, "No mom! Yaxson is not done eating yet. I'm going to wait for Yaxson!" Jaxson HATES tomatoes. So it took him about 20 minutes to finally finish his. But you faithfully cheered Jax on to finish his food so that you could experience the celebration of eating a cookie together with Jax. It was a beautiful moment of loyalty and unity and love and selflessness. What lucky brothers they are to have you. You were also very sad this morning that Jesus wasn't at our house. I some how gave you the idea that he'd be here. The Atonement, The Crucifixion and The Resurrection are such complicated events to understand. I am still learning about them. Don't ever stop questioning, feeling, studying, praying and believing. Jesus isn't here today, but he'll be here one day.

Dear Yukers:
Buddy. My sweet, easy going little blue eyed boy. Lets talk. Sacrament meeting and church in general is NOOOOO joke now with you. You don't want to be held, you want to explore, you really want to just climb up all the steps. You talk sooooooo much and you are loud. Its happy loud, but buddy, we can't be that loud during the prayer, the speakers, the sacrament, and especially when your own mom is saying the closing prayer. Maybe you could just take a binky for that hour? Plllleeeassssee?

Also, YOU ARE ONE!!!!! What??? I honestly can't believe it. Just because you're 1 doesn't mean you can be all toddler like in Sacrament Meeting. I couldn't help but rock you a little more this week, gaze at you a little more this week, feel insanely grateful to have you a little more this week. I'll take loud crazy unproductive Church for the rest of my life to have your light and spirit and joy around. Happy happy birthday Luke Gary!!!!!!!

The plan of salvation!

The early signs of toddlerhood

Ty ty loves to color
Heather brought us un purchased Turkey Pot Pies!!! Um... YES! Simple little acts can make someone else's day so much brighter.

One of Lando's runs!

WE LOVE AVA!!!!!!!!! These cute besties on a field trip together.

"Let me in, let me in!" "Let me out, let me out!"

My mom has fans!!! She had a huge line to talk to her and people taking selfies with her.  I think she's so cool.

I seriously love her more and more with every day! She's my best friend and an EXTRAORDINARY mom!

Cousin Time

Lando:
He had a really awesome week at work. He loved being at Primary Children's Hospital and basically everything about it. We also got an interview from CHOP which is one we've been hoping for. I think our line up for fellowship interviews will be there(in order of interview...):

1: Indianapolis, IN--Riley Children's Hospital
2: Dallas, TX--Children's Medical Center
3: Palo Alto, CA--Stanford Children's Hospital
4: Cincinnati, OH--Cincinnati Children's Hospital
5: Philadelphia, PA--Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)
6: Houston, TX--Texas Children's Hospital

Interviews go all the way til August and we match in October. So, it is going to be awhile, but we feel really excited about our options!

Lando took me on a super fun date Saturday. We went to one of his co-resident's home, Arran Sieler. He's so great. It is always fun being around the people Lando works with. We crossed paths with Brock and adorable Henry(Brock's little boy, i'm not crushing on a resident promise!). Then we chatted with Alex, Chris, Jake and Stacey, and a few others. Then after that we went to Keys on Main and watched my cousin Jed plays in a Dueling Piano Club. Jed is so stinkin talented! It was a blast.

Becs:
I had a blast watching my nieces (cope for a few hours at least) for a few days! I would spend a little time with each other them in the morning when I helped them get ready for the day and in the evening when I helped them get ready for bed. I did their hair, I told them they were smart and kind and important and beautiful! I just had this overwhelming joy realizing that if I never have my own little girl, I can still have a relationship and hopefully an impact on my darling and special nieces! Other than that my other big successes were running 6 miles pushing Luke & Ty WHICH is over 100 pounds. And then I did my first session with a client on Saturday!

Jax:
I'm so happy we decided to homeschool him this year. He's going to stress the rest of his life. I honestly just feel like I gave him an extra year of childhood. He LOVED watching the Masters this week. Tiger Woods. He did it!

Ty Ty:
This poor boy. He has had a rough couple of months. We finally figured out that he had Perianal Strep and got him on an antibiotic. But the side effects from the antibiotic make it so he broke out in a rash and threw up every night. UGH! I went to the doctor before cousin time to make sure he was no longer contagious and she said he was good to go! But hopefully we are finally finishing all of this junk. Ty is getting so good at coloring. He loves to balance on things. He loves to tell me who the prophet is. He was cheering for Tiger all the way!

Luke:
He has a stinky diaper right now that i'm avoiding. He has been standing alone for a second or two at a time. He is SO loud and SO talkative. He is such a charming little dude. We can't get enough of this easy-going yet opinionated, happy little light!

This drives Jax crazy but I know he also loves it too.

My mom now has 270,000 views in two weeks. Check out her song here

Hallie. This girl has so much self-confidence and sass(the good kind! The one that will make boys intimated). She is a little momma!!! Whenever Luke is around she wants to be by Luke and take care of him. I also love how protective she is of her own little brother. You can see that nurturing is already apart of her character! She's a dancer and a singer and loves being the center of attention!

Hazel is a dreamer! She is not afraid to try and do things that are out of the box. She lives in the moment and is so good at being present where ever she's at. She is a little quieter but when you actually take time to talk to her, this girl has so much to say. I also love how she wants to experience the world, every part of it. I feel she will be one that lives a whole-hearted life as Brene Brown says.

Ty! I got each girl ready before I got Ty ready. It took me at least 10 minutes with each girl. Get dressed, brush teeth, do your hair, etc. Ty comes up, he doesn't let me touch his hair. He doesn't want to be in anything but what he is already in. He does want to brush his teeth. I love him so much!

Hailey! She has the most tender heart. She is protective, kind, and welcoming to anyone and everyone. I feel like she can literally see through the physical being of someone and know their heart. She's going to be that girl that steps up and stops someone else being bullied! With this big heart, she also has a big brain! She is smart and aware and helpful.

Jax is kind of the leader of this pack (Jax and Hailey). And honestly we lucked out to have these two running the show.  They are responsible and good! Its such a blessing.

Oh Harper! This was one of the first times I really got to spend a lot of time with Harper. I'm obsessed. Harper is driven. She may be tiny, but this girl knows what she wants and will get it! She wants to keep up with her older sisters and cousins and so she just does. I forget sometimes that she is at least a year and half younger than the group, but it doesn't seem that way. She is clever, and funny, and bold!

Ty. Ty got the seat belt stuck. We had to cut it. BLLLAAH!

Peace. Space. Konmari!!
